Our client is a trusted manufacturing partner to some of the UK's most recognised brands and retailers, producing innovative and sustainable products from certified recycled materials.
Operating from a modern BRCGS Grade AA facility, the business runs 24/7, 51 weeks of the year.
They are looking to strengthen their in-house tooling department with an experienced Toolmaker. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a forward-thinking manufacturer with significant investment in technology, training, and continuous improvement.
The Role:
The successful Toolmaker will play a key role in the production, modification, and maintenance of tooling, ensuring equipment is precise, reliable and capable of supporting high-quality, high-volume manufacturing. While experience in plastics or thermoforming is an advantage, applications from Toolmakers with experience in other precision engineering sectors (e.g. injection moulding, press tools, aerospace, automotive) are also welcome.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manufacture, repair, and maintain tools, dies, jigs and fixtures using a mix of manual and CNC machining techniques.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, CAD files and technical specifications.
- Modify and adapt tooling to improve efficiency and product quality.
- Work closely with engineering, maintenance, and production teams to meet deadlines and resolve tooling issues.
- Carry out preventative maintenance to minimise downtime.
- Maintain accurate records of tooling repairs and modifications.
- Follow all relevant health, safety and quality procedures.
Candidate Profile:
- Time-served Toolmaker or equivalent (NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds / Apprenticeship).
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment - plastics/thermoforming preferred, but other precision engineering backgrounds will be considered.
- Skilled in the use of manual and CNC machines.
- Familiarity with CAD/CAM systems is beneficial.
- Strong attention to detail, with a proactive, problem-solving approach.
- Able to work independently as well as part of a team.
