MACHINE OPERATOR - FLEXIBLE PACKAGING

Salary: £25,000.00-£30,000.00 per year + Benefits: Bonus scheme + Company Pension + Free parking

Monday to Friday Rotating Double days shift (8.5hrs)

Our Client is a multi-award-winning packaging company seeking a Machine Operator to operate a Pouch Machine with all related duties in a Food Safe Environment.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate the Pouch machine and support equipment to form pouches of printed / laminated / unsupported flexible plastic film and paper for use in making products for, but not limited to, food packaging.
  • Set up and operate trim winding units.
  • Read entire job ticket for information required for the set up and running of production order.
  • Must possess the ability to read and understand the job specifications to properly ensure the finished product meets all customer expectation.
  • Identify defects found in production and communicate those to the packer to make sure those pouches affected are excluded from packing.
  • Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Responsible for quality control.
  • Make adjustments, as necessary, during production ASAP to minimalise waste of raw materials and time.
  • Ensure the machine is operating in a safe condition with all safety equipment operational.
  • Ensure that the finished product is properly documented to provide traceability.
  • Ensure that the finished product is properly packed according to specification.
  • Ensure a clean and safe work area.
  • Optimise safety (food and workplace), quality, yield, and productivity.
  • Complete production paperwork.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Food Safety Responsibilities.
  • Assure all products are manufactured in a safe, quality manner.
  • Assure compliance with all customer specifications.
  • Assure compliance with all GMP requirements.

Skills and abilities:

  • Experience running any pouch making or associated print or packaging machinery is preferred - however full training can be provided so any Machine / Process Operators from other sectors with good solid aptitude and stable career progression will be considered.
  • Well organised, with ability to effectively manage own time and prioritise work.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Ability to produce jobs correctly and accurately first time.
  • Self-motivated and practical.
  • Basic PC skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills, with ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with a range of people.
  • Demonstrates a flexible approach to changing priorities and the ability to work under pressure, turn around jobs within an agreed time frame.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Able to achieve high levels of accuracy.
  • To have a reliable, flexible, and systematic approach to work.
  • GCSE or equivalent (preferred).
