Our client specialises in premium quality flexible packaging, this International Group has established its position as a market leader in the UK and across Europe through continued investment in manufacturing capability, new product development, quality excellence, and the creation of an unprecedented service culture.
They are looking to recruit a Lamination Technical Support to join their team. The chosen candidate will be the "go-to" person for all lamination and coating requirements. Provide operational support to all departments which require lamination and coating expertise (e.g. H&S, Quality, R&D, Production, Maintenance)

Develop and establish training programs for all staff involved with lamination and coating and provide ongoing support for operators. Provide process support to new product development by finding process settings and tolerances. Run trials and provide feedback for improvements. Innovate within the department by finding optimal ways to reduce waste, improve quality and improve efficiency.

The chosen candidate will be hands on, have knowledge and experience in everything Lamination! Specifically, Nordmeccanica machines (would be of an advantage not essential) or solvent based lamination.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all Health and Safety requirements
  • Commissioning and setting process parameters for new technologies
  • Leading coating and lamination development from an operational perspective
  • Share in-depth knowledge and experience of solvent-based lamination processes
  • Creating training documentation for the lamination and coating department
  • Training lamination operators
  • Providing support to the lamination department as required
  • Setting and operating lamination machines in accordance with the production plan
  • Quality checking of products at various stages of the lamination process
  • Carry out basic maintenance procedures as required
  • Responsible for daily and pre running machine checks, setting, running the machine solving any issues arising including full clean down after each job to prevent any material contamination
  • Setting machines to correct specifications including tensions, pressures speed and other parameters
  • Checking adhesive weights, temperatures of the mix, rollers and correct ratios
  • Creating standard operating procedures for existing and new customers
  • Setting up and monitoring of the manufacturing process in order to detect any defects or deviations from standards and to make adjustments as necessary to rectify faults and minimise waste in the process
  • Liaising with the Production / Supervisory Team on all matters of production and quality control


Characteristics and Requirements

  • Extensive experience on a wide variety of lamination machinery specifically Nordmeccanica machines or solvent based laminators.
  • Experience of working as part of a team and a flexible approach to work is essential, including the ability to work the required shift pattern in line with the business needs.
  • Applicants should be conscientious with high quality standards
  • Applicants must have a good attendance and time keeping record.
  • Good communication skills are essential.
  • Knowledge of 5S, TPM, Kaizen and Kanban systems would be an advantage.
  • Basic PC skills.
