Our client is a global supplier of plastic containers, serving both food and non-food industries. With advanced UK manufacturing facilities specialising in injection moulding and thermoforming, they produce a wide range of products, from pots, bowls, trays, lids, and hinge packs to large 20-litre tubs and containers. The company holds prestigious accreditations, including ISO9002, HACCP for Food Packaging Production, IQNET, and BRC.
They are seeking a UK-based Technical Salesperson to manage key accounts and drive new business development. The role is split between 60% account management and 40% new business acquisition, targeting both food and non-food markets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage major accounts, negotiating terms and fostering strong client relationships.
- Develop strategic plans and conduct market analysis to grow the business.
- Maintain productive, professional relationships with senior-level decision-makers, including purchasing, technical, and marketing teams.
- Handle new product development inquiries, ensuring alignment with company sales strategies.
- Generate customer visit reports and identify actionable follow-ups.
- Provide input on projects to meet deadlines and milestones effectively.
- Handle objections and negotiate positive outcomes using persuasive communication styles.
- Travel to UK and Ireland customers, with occasional visits to international manufacturing sites.
- Gain (or leverage existing) knowledge of the plastic packaging market, including solutions, services, and competitor analysis.
Key Requirements:
- Experience: Proven background in plastic packaging, ideally within the food industry (other sectors also considered).
- Technical Expertise: Relevant qualifications or hands-on technical experience.
- Account Management & Sales: Demonstrated success in managing accounts and driving business development.
- Communication Skills: Skilled at interpreting customer needs and collaborating with in-house teams.
- Relationship Building: Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on fostering long-term partnerships.
- Organisation & Time Management: Highly organised and able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Negotiation Skills: Ability to negotiate pricing and commercial terms confidently.
- Team Player: Self-motivated, ambitious, and collaborative.
- IT Proficiency: Comfortable working with Excel and other business tools.
- Flexibility: Versatile, adaptable, and able to perform under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
