Our Client is a well-established, innovative and successful designer of packaging for major brands in a variety of market sectors in the UK and Overseas.

Currently recruiting for a home-based Key Account Manager to cover a portfolio of significant key clients in the South of England from Birmingham down, and into the South of Wales. The role is 90% key account management and 10% New Business. You will be required to visit the office 2 to 3 days a month and on occasional customer visits.

The ideal candidate will be from a bottles, jars, caps, closures or associated packaging background, although this is not essential. You must have experience selling into food, and beverage sectors.

You will be a team player, preferably with some business qualifications and formal sales training within a manufacturing environment. There are realistic progression opportunities within the next 5 years for the successful candidate.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and grow business across the southern UK region focusing on both existing customers and new opportunities.
  • Build strong, multi-level relationships within key accounts, expanding engagement beyond procurement to include Marketing, NPD, and Production teams.
  • Strategically plan travel and customer visits to ensure optimal time and territory management.
  • Represent the company at trade shows, industry events, and professional body meetings.
  • Proactively follow up on all leads from the website and business development channels, progressing opportunities through to conversion.
  • Lead commercial negotiations, draft contracts, and manage the preparation of supporting documentation.
  • Convert initial orders into ongoing accounts, ensuring long-term relationship development.
  • Identify and promote value-added services such as embossing, decorative finishes, and outsourced solutions.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the CRM system, including all customer interactions, visit reports, and project updates.
  • Encourage and coordinate customer visits to the manufacturing facility to enhance transparency and understanding.
  • Maintain regular presence on the factory floor to stay aligned with operational activities and capabilities.
  • Perform any additional duties reasonably required to support business growth and customer satisfaction.

Person Specification:

  • Packaging Industry experience
  • At least 5 years commercial experience in a similar Account Management role
  • Good negotiation skills
  • Project Management
  • Experience of dealing with customers, in a fast-paced sales environment
  • General business 'working' knowledge
  • Commercial Awareness
  • Excellent communication (telephone) and written skills
  • Negotiation skills/Confidence/listening skills/problem solving skills/interpersonal
  • Ideally Business qualifications
  • PC Literate
