ENVELOPE MACHINE SETTER

£Dependent on experience + 20 days holiday + bank holidays, plus 1 additional day per full year of service up to 5 years (max 25 days + bank holidays)

36-hour double day shift: Earlies: 06:30-14:00 Mon-Thurs, 06:30-12:30 Fri
Lates: 14:00-21:45 Mon-Thurs, 12:30-17:30 Fri

Our client is seeking a skilled Machine Setter to join a busy, innovative envelopes and packaging business. Ideally, candidates will have experience setting and running a 102 WD Envelope Machine, though we understand this is rare. The client is are happy to consider individuals with a strong mechanical engineering background who have transferable skills and a passion for learning, as full training can be provided.
Key Responsibilities:

Machine Operation:

• Run and monitor the 102 reel-fed Envelope machine
• Start up machines and load reels
• Dispense ink according to schedule
• Maintain glue buckets and ensure materials are available at the machine
• Keep workstations and machines clean and tidy
• Return unused raw materials to stock
• Replenish ink and glue IBCs
• Perform hourly quality checks
• Stand in for packers during breaks
• Strip down pumps, diagnose and repair faults
• Carry out weekly machine maintenance

Setting Machine / Setup Duties:

• Learn which knife profiles correspond to envelope sizes and install knives
• Set up the print unit, including Anilox roller, doctor blades, and print unit if required
• Change gummers as needed
• Wash out and change components to ensure quality production

Required Skills and Attributes:

• Mechanical background (essential)
• Flexible and able to use initiative
• Strong attention to detail to ensure top-quality envelopes at high speeds
• Ability to maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment
• Willingness to learn machine-specific skills
