CNC / LASER OPERATOR - SIGNS

LEICESTERSHIRE

Up to £16.00 per hour (dependent on experience) + Overtime: Weekdays: Time and a quarter (1.25x) / Weekends: Time and a half (1.5x) + Pension

HOURS OF WORK: Monday to Friday 7.00am to 3.30pm

Our client is a professional trade only sign manufacturer in the East Midlands, specialising in internal and external signs, with in house facility to manage project from start to finish.

They are looking for a skilled CNC / Laser Operator to join their production team. This role involves operating CNC routers and laser cutting machinery to produce high-quality components across a variety of materials including acrylic, aluminium, steel, foam, and Dibond.

The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, technically capable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where accuracy, efficiency, and quality are key.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operating CNC and laser cutting machines safely and efficiently
  • Setting up jobs, loading materials, and adjusting machine parameters as required
  • Working with materials including acrylic, aluminium, steel, foam, and Dibond
  • Reading and interpreting technical drawings and job specifications
  • Carrying out quality checks to ensure parts meet required standards
  • Performing basic machine maintenance and reporting faults or issues
  • Ensuring all work is completed in line with health & safety procedures
  • Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe work area
  • Working closely with other departments to meet production deadlines

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience operating CNC and/or laser cutting machinery
  • Experience working with a range of materials including plastics and metals
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering or production drawings
  • Good understanding of CNC processes, tooling, and machine settings
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious

Desirable (but not essential)

  • Experience with CNC routers and laser cutters in a manufacturing or signage environment
  • Knowledge of CAD/CAM software
  • Experience handling aluminium and steel sheet materials
  • Forklift or material-handling equipment experience
