Technical Service Packaging Engineer (Ref: PK8206)

NEW VACANCY! (PK8206)

TECHNICAL SERVICE PACKAGING ENGINEER WEST YORKSHIRE

£30-35K + Bonus + Benefits

Hours: Monday to Thursday 9am - 5.30pm with 5pm finish on Fridays

The Technical Services Packaging Engineer works closely with existing and new customers to trial new materials on their lines. The majority of customers are UK based, with occasional visits to Ireland and Mainland Europe.

The role is suited to a problem solver with an inquisitive attitude who has worked within the food packaging industry.

This is an advisory role so you will not be expected to be hands on during trials but to advise necessary adjustments or changes for optimum performance. The role will likely be 3 days out with clients and 2 days onsite for reports and paperwork.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Acting as a technical expert to troubleshoot packaging line issues, diagnose root cause of problems and implement effective solutions. This may involve collaboration with cross functional teams such as production, engineering, and quality assurance.
  • Providing technical expertise and support during trailing of new food products, including compatibility testing.
  • Maintaining comprehensive documentation of procedures and specifications.
  • Collaborating with packaging material suppliers and equipment vendors to evaluate new technologies, troubleshoot issues and optimise performance.
  • Building strong relationships with clients to ensure timely support.
  • Developing contingency plans and protocols to address issues.
  • Staying abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in food packaging engineering through ongoing training, industry conferences, and professional development opportunities.

Requirements:

  • Understanding of packaging materials and the machines they run on.
  • Experience working within the food industry.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify root causes of packaging issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for effectively liaising with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and customers.
  • The ability to convey technical information in a clear and concise manner is crucial.
  • A valid driving licence is required.
