My client is seeking an experienced Technical & New Product Development Manager to lead innovation and technical development across its growing flexible packaging division.
This is a hands-on, site-based role suited to a commercially aware technical professional with strong expertise in flexible packaging materials, print technologies and product development within the packaging sector.
The successful candidate will play a key role in driving new product initiatives from concept through to commercial production, ensuring technical excellence, manufacturing compatibility, and customer satisfaction throughout the process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the full New Product Development (NPD) process for flexible packaging solutions from initial concept to production approval.
- Develop and trial new flexible packaging structures, substrates, laminates, and print finishes.
- Provide technical expertise on materials, ink systems, adhesives, barrier properties, and packaging performance.
- Work closely with customers to translate technical and commercial requirements into viable manufacturing solutions.
- Liaise with production, operations, and suppliers to ensure smooth product introduction and scalability.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across existing flexible packaging products and processes.
- Ensure compliance with quality, food safety, and industry standards including BRC and ISO requirements.
- Support troubleshooting and technical problem-solving across manufacturing and customer projects.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience within flexible packaging manufacturing is essential.
- Strong technical understanding of flexible packaging materials, laminations, films, and converting processes.
- Knowledge of print technologies
- Experience managing NPD projects within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Commercially aware with strong customer-facing communication skills.
- Able to work collaboratively across technical, production, and sales teams.
- Hands-on, proactive approach with strong organisational and project management capability.
