WEST MIDLANDS

£EXPERIENCE DEPENDANT (PLEASE CONTACT ME FOR RATE) + 5.6 Weeks Annual Leave + Bank Holidays + Overtime Available

SHIFTS: 4X12 Hour Shifts Monday - Friday (the occasional Saturday may be required during busy times)

ROATING HOURS: 6:30am - 6:30pm or 6:30pm -6:30am

Our client is a well-established manufacturer specialising in flexible packaging solutions, supplying innovative, high-quality products to customers across a wide range of industries. Renowned for their expertise in flexographic printing, they work with several well-known blue-chip organisations and have built a strong reputation for quality, reliability, and customer service.

Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Slitting Operator to join their production team. This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a fast-paced manufacturing environment where quality, safety, and continuous improvement are key priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate slitting machinery safely and efficiently.
  • Minimise waste, scrap, and consumable usage by ensuring materials are used in line with job specifications.
  • Follow all health, safety, environmental, and product quality procedures, ensuring standards are maintained at all times.
  • Meet daily production targets while maintaining high levels of efficiency.
  • Produce work to the highest quality standards throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Ensure production schedules are achieved to support on-time customer deliveries.
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping standards and follow 5S practices within the slitting department.
  • Identify production issues quickly and take appropriate action to minimise downtime.
  • Keep machinery running wherever possible, including providing cover during Operator breaks.
  • Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to maximise productivity and output.
  • Complete accurate production records and system updates in real time, ensuring all shift documentation is finalised before handover.
  • Communicate effectively with the Slitting Team Leader regarding machine performance, faults, and corrective actions.
  • Carry out routine machine maintenance, troubleshooting, adjustments, cleaning, and minor repairs where appropriate, while ensuring BRC standards are consistently met.

Skills & Experience:

  • Previous experience within a manufacturing, warehouse, or printing environment (particularly flexographic, gravure, or offset printing) would be advantageous, although full training will be provided for the right candidate.
  • Knowledge of BRC standards or the BRC Code of Practice is desirable.
  • Able to adapt to changing production demands while maintaining quality and efficiency.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Positive attitude towards continuous improvement and contributing to operational efficiencies.
