PROJECT BASED STRUCTURAL DESIGNER - CORRUGATED PACKAGING

SALARY GUIDE: UP TO £40K
Our client is a leading bespoke corrugated packaging manufacturer and solutions provider (design, manufacture and print up to 4 colours, all in house). The company supplies a wide range of market sectors including FMCG, horticulture, retail, pharmaceutical, E Commerce, Food to Go, Distributors and Industrial.
They are currently looking to recruit a competent Structural Designer to join their current team who will be primarily office based.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create innovative corrugated packaging structures using CAD software (AG Kasemake) and sometimes 3D modelling tools
- Develop prototypes, conduct material analysis, and perform structural integrity tests to ensure designs meet performance and cost requirements.
- Prepare detailed specifications, structural drawings, and setup instructions for production and retail environments including ordering formes and stereos.
- Evaluate existing packaging for improvements in style, function, cost, and ease of assembly
- Develop innovative packaging concepts that meet customer briefs, leveraging the full capabilities of the company design network
- Monitor and interpret design trends across multiple market sectors to proactively identify opportunities and deliver creative solutions for customers
- Stay up to date with the latest design tools and technologies to offer customers sustainable and competitive advantages through their proposals
- Actively participate in training programmes to support continuous professional development and marketing awareness
- Maintain an up-to-date understanding of market trends, design innovations, and emerging marketing techniques to enhance product value and shelf impact
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and design standards
- Support design studio workflow and maintain high standards of quality and innovation
- Collaborate with cross function teams including Sales and Manufacturing to align with the objectives and goals of the Business
- Understand customer needs and technical requirements to deliver the most suitable design and technical solutions
- Attend customer meetings as required to support design discussions and project development
- Contribute to customer projects focused on cost savings, complexity reduction, and harmonisation, ensuring alignment with defined project briefs
