SALARY GUIDE £45K (Dependant on Experience) + 25 Days Holidays plus Bank Holidays + Onsite Parking
HOURS - Monday To Friday: 8:30am till 5pm
Our client has been established for over 40 years and specialises in producing a bespoke range of high-quality cartons, boards, and trays. Operating across a wide range of market sectors including the food industry. They are known for its expertise in high-quality corrugated and bespoke packaging solutions, delivering reliable, tailored products to meet exact customer requirements.
They are currently looking to recruit an experienced Production Manager to oversee and continuously improve daily operations within the food manufacturing facility. You will be responsible for planning, coordinating and controlling manufacturing processes to ensure products are produced efficiently, on time, and in full compliance with quality, food safety, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and manage production schedules to meet output targets and delivery deadlines, with production planned a minimum of two weeks in advance
- Monitor production processes and adjust schedules as required to maintain efficiency and service levels
- Ensure optimal use of labour, machinery and materials in collaboration with the leadership team and General Manager
- Immediately inform the sales team of any production delays to allow timely customer communication
- Lead, motivate and manage production staff, including supervisors, machine operators, and line operatives
- Conduct performance reviews, identify training needs and support team development
- Promote a positive, productive, and accountable working environment
- Review, approve, investigate, and amend weekly timesheets for all production staff
- Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction
- Lead lean manufacturing initiatives, including 5S and other operational efficiency programmes
- Monitor and analyse production data and KPIs to drive performance improvements
- Work closely with procurement and warehouse teams to ensure timely availability of raw materials and packaging supplies
- Minimise waste and manage inventory levels effectively
- Prepare and present regular production performance reports to senior management
- Communicate effectively with cross-functional departments including R&D, Quality Assurance, Maintenance, and HR
- Ensure all products meet company quality standards and food safety regulations, including HACCP, FSC, BRC, ISO, and GMP requirements
- Implement and maintain quality checks throughout the factory
- Investigate and resolve production and quality issues promptly in collaboration with the QA team
- Enforce health and safety policies and ensure full compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
- Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate workplace hazards and risks
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a production management role, ideally within food packaging or food manufacturing
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and quality systems, including HACCP, BRC, ISO, and GMP
- Proven leadership experience managing large production teams
- Excellent organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
- Competent in production management systems and Microsoft Office applications
