Our client is a family-owned integrated Corrugated Packaging Company based in Australia, they are a phenomenal business who have state of the art machinery and are renowned for their impeccable quality and service levels! Our client makes impressive and continual investment into their business and employees as they are now looking to take the next step in their development and expansion plans.

They are currently looking for an experienced Operations Manager who is genuinely interested in relocating to Australia. You will be responsible for leading the management and manufacturing operations of the company's new site. This is achieved through process management, data analysis, goal setting, clear communication, and leading and motivating employees to operate safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Focus on the efficient use of human and other resources in a safe and healthy manner, the involvement of all staff in improving quality and waste levels, the effective housekeeping of all relevant areas
  • Feedback to planning to improve on schedules and effective management of all controllable costs in the factory area
  • Lead, manage, coach, and develop shift manufacturing teams - including team leaders and support services - to deliver continuous improvement and operational excellence
  • Collaborate in defining and implementing production strategies that meet short to medium and long-term manufacturing objectives
  • Drive performance improvements across all areas including quality, delivery, maintenance efficiency, and cost control
  • Work closely with other functional managers to ensure consistent performance and alignment across all manufacturing shifts
  • Optimise the use of all available resources to achieve maximum efficiency and cost-effectiveness while continuously improving operational performance
  • Produce detailed daily shift reports that provide accurate, high-quality information on performance metrics and trends
  • Ensure all operational issues are resolved promptly and within established procedures
  • Immediately report any customer-related issues to the Customer Service team
  • Communicate shift-related challenges and updates clearly to relevant department heads
  • Monitor and control waste and rejected production, identifying and reporting root causes to the Production Manager where possible
  • Assess and manage the performance of all direct employees against set criteria, addressing shortfalls through coaching, retraining, or, where appropriate, the company's disciplinary or grievance procedures
  • Support and supervise factory teams in the absence of the relevant Team Leader
  • Ensure all communications are professional, accurate, and completed within required timescales
  • Resolve employee issues, queries, and grievances promptly, escalating to the Production Manager as appropriate
  • Manage departmental holiday scheduling effectively to maintain operational efficiency
  • Actively lead and participate in improvement initiatives such as Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and Quality Operating System (QOS) programmes
  • Identify personal training and development needs and discuss these with the Production Manager
  • Undertake appropriate company-supported training relevant to your current role
  • Participate fully in all training activities, including any required multi-skilling
  • Support the onboarding and development of new and existing employees through training and mentoring
  • Encourage & facilitate the ongoing learning and personal development of team members
  • In collaboration with the HR and Health & Safety departments, ensure all staff receive required training and retraining as roles or responsibilities evolve
  • Maintain the highest possible standards of housekeeping within your area of responsibility
  • Support and implement corrective actions to continuously improve cleanliness and organisation
  • Ensure all team members understand and uphold their shared responsibility for maintaining agreed factory hygiene standards
  • Adhere to and promote the Company's Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) Policy and maintain responsibility for the safety of your work area
  • Conduct regular plant safety audits and report findings to the Production Manager
  • Identify and report any safety hazards through the Mango System
  • Follow all safety procedures and operating instructions for equipment in use
  • Ensure all gangways and emergency exits remain clear and unobstructed
  • Comply with fire alarm and evacuation procedures
  • Be familiar with all emergency stop mechanisms for equipment under your supervision
  • Support and implement corrective actions to improve overall Health & Safety standards
