Our client is a manufacturer of printed cartons based in the South East. They have an excellent reputation in the industry for providing high quality products, as well as being reliable selling into a diverse range of market sectors. Specialising in bespoke litho‑laminated cartons and high‑end Carton packaging solutions for premium markets including food, beverage, cosmetics and electronics markets.

They are currently looking for a Business Development Manager to join their expanding sales team. You will be responsible for driving the continued growth and expansion of market presence. This role is an exciting opportunity for a results driven individual with a passion for a strong client relationship and identifying new opportunities within the dynamic packaging industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-depth market analysis to uncover new business opportunities, focusing on emerging trends, market gaps, potential clients, and strategic partnerships particularly within the FMCG and sustainable packaging sectors
  • Identify and proactively engage with key decision-makers in target organisations to generate qualified leads and build a strong sales pipeline
  • Drive business growth by cultivating relationships with new clients, understanding their unique packaging needs, and delivering tailored solutions that align with the capabilities
  • Convert new client relationships into long-term, high-value accounts through strategic engagement and by building trust, credibility, and mutual success
  • Develop and implement strategic sales plans to meet or exceed revenue targets, while adapting approaches based on market dynamics and customer feedback
  • Prepare persuasive proposals and business cases, and lead contract negotiations to successfully close new deals and maximise commercial value
  • Collaborate with internal teams including design, production, and operations to ensure smooth project delivery, excellent service levels, and overall client satisfaction
  • Track and report on sales performance, pipeline progress, and competitor activity using data-driven insights to identify areas for growth and continuous improvement

Requirements:

  • Proven track record of success in business development with a focus on sales growth and exceeding targets
  • Strong understanding of the carton printing and related packaging industry
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills with the ability to articulate complex solutions clearly and persuasively
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong client relationships at all levels
  • Strategic thinking with a keen eye for identifying and capitalising on new market chances
  • Exceptional negotiation and closing skills
  • Self-motivated and results-driven with strong organisational & time management abilities
  • Proficiency in CRM software (e.g., Salesforce) and other sales enablement tools
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
