HOURS OF WORK: Mon to Thurs (8:55am - 5pm) & Fri (8:55am - 4.30pm) - THERE IS THE OPTION OF HYBRID WORKING IN THE FUTURE

Our client is a leading independent packaging manufacturer with a strong focus on sustainable e-commerce and packaging solutions. The business has established a recognised position in the market by developing recyclable and plastic-free alternatives, supplying both independent retailers and larger online brands. With a reputation for innovation, quality, and environmental responsibility, our client continues to grow its presence across the sector.

They are currently looking for an experienced Account Manager to join their team. You will be proactive in the management of an allocated client base, primarily consisting of accounts with annual spend below £100,000 with the objective of driving growth while delivering outstanding customer service. You will be assigned 70+ of the company's top clients, requiring elements of key account management.

The ideal candidate will bring strong interpersonal skills, proactivity, and a commitment to exceptional customer service. They will be highly self-motivated, take ownership of their portfolio, and demonstrate the ability to grow supply within an existing client base.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive growth within existing accounts, including selected key accounts by identifying new opportunities and upselling
  • Manage the full commercial cycle: pricing, proposals, negotiations, contracts, and stock agreements for assigned clients
  • Conduct client visits as required, supporting upselling, new product launches (including packaging demonstrations) and issue resolution
  • Undertake detailed planning and Excel-based forecasting to ensure peak supply during high-demand periods (Oct-Dec)
  • Take full ownership of client relationships once transitioned from the Business Development Team
  • Provide holiday cover for the Account Management team, including leading daily team meetings, coordinating tasks, and supporting colleagues as needed
  • Support the wider team by assisting with client queries & problem-solving when required
  • Manage day-to-day client requirements, including emails, enquiries, orders, deliveries, and artwork approvals
  • Participate in daily virtual meetings with colleagues and clients via Zoom or Teams
  • Respond promptly to client communications ensuring all tasks are actioned without delay
  • Keep clients informed on production schedules, stock levels, and order progress
  • Work under the guidance of the Commercial Manager to maximise both team efficiency and client satisfaction
  • Handle client complaints effectively, delivering solutions that meet the needs of both the client and the company
  • Attend training sessions to continually develop knowledge, skills and techniques
  • Comply with company policies and procedures relating to Health & Safety and Quality Management

Requirements:

  • Positive, proactive attitude with a sense of humour and a "can-do" approach
  • Strong ability to create positive client experiences in every interaction
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision
  • Experience in corrugated packaging is advantageous but not essential
  • Confident communicator, able to engage effectively with directors and blue-chip clients
  • Strong presentation and communication skills across via phone and email
  • Commercially minded with solid business acumen
  • Confident, engaging, and skilled in building relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Naturally organised and forward-thinking, with the ability to review and improve personal performance
  • Quick thinker, collaborative team player, and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Highly organised and adaptable, able to thrive in a dynamic, changing environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Teams, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs (grades A-E) or equivalent
  • Familiarity with the company's MIS system SPOCS is an advantage (full training will be provided)
