PRODUCTION PLANNER - PACKAGING

LEICESTERSHIRE

SALARY £OPEN (Depending on Experience) + Pension + Increasing Holiday Allowance

HOURS - 39 HOURS PER WEEK - (Flexible start and finish times between 7am and 4:30pm Monday to Thursday / early finish Friday at 2pm)

Our client is a well-established manufacturer of packaging materials and consumables, providing high-quality packaging solutions a diverse customer base. They offer an extensive range of products, including cardboard boxes, protective packaging, bubble wrap, tapes, strapping and bespoke carton manufacturing.

With continued growth of the business, they have plans to relocate to a significantly larger facility next year and invest in additional machinery to further increase production capacity. They are part of a larger group of companies, they offer the stability of an established organisation whilst maintaining the friendly, close-knit feel of a medium-sized business with an annual turnover of approximately £3.2 million.

They are now looking to recruit an experienced Production Planner to join their team, with genuine progression pathway into a Production Manager position.

You will play a key role in ensuring production runs efficiently by coordinating manufacturing schedules, material availability and workflow across the business. Working closely with production, sales and purchasing teams, you'll ensure customer requirements are met whilst maximising productivity and maintaining excellent service levels.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to take ownership of the planning function whilst developing into a future leadership role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce and maintain production schedules to meet customer deadlines
  • Plan and coordinate workflow across multiple production departments
  • Order raw materials and packaging components in line with production requirements
  • Monitor stock levels and ensure materials are available when required
  • Print production labels and complete associated administration
  • Prepare quotations for new and existing customers
  • Assist with product sampling and new work enquiries
  • Liaise with internal departments to ensure jobs progress smoothly through production
  • Update and maintain production information using SPOCS CRM and the Opera Operating System
  • Identify opportunities to improve planning processes and operational efficiency
  • Support management with reporting and production planning analysis

Requirements:

  • Previous experience within a Production Planner, Production Scheduler or Planning Coordinator position
  • Experience within packaging, print or manufacturing environments would be highly advantageous
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across multiple departments
  • Commercial awareness with experience of quotations or estimating being beneficial
  • Good IT skills and experience using planning, ERP or CRM systems
