HOURS OF WORK: MONDAY TO FRIDAY - 8.30am till 5pm (30mins Lunch)
Our client is a specialist corrugated packaging manufacturer based in the Midlands, they are currently looking for an experienced Production Planner or Planning Manager to join their team. You will be responsible for the day-to-day scheduling of the company's manufacturing machinery and repro function, as well as coordinating material and outwork suppliers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and manage the production schedule for each machine, ensuring completed jobs are delivered on time
- Maximise machine running hours by ensuring artwork is signed off and all required materials and outsourced print are available in line with the production schedule
- Identify and take advantage of efficiencies and opportunities between jobs to optimise machine utilisation
- Import new jobs into the planning system and allocate them to the appropriate machinery
- Make daily revisions to the manufacturing schedule to reflect changing circumstances, priorities and production requirements
- Maintain the long-term capacity plan, allocating jobs to appropriate production windows
- Develop and provide critical paths for jobs, covering customer orders, artwork supply and approval, material requirements and production deadlines
- Generate capacity information to determine whether new work can be accommodated at short notice and establish realistic lead times
- Identify potential capacity issues and constraints as new jobs are added to the production schedule
- Maintain a detailed overview of the status of all components required for jobs to commence, including artwork, materials, prior conversion operations and tooling
- Liaise with internal departments and external suppliers to coordinate activities in line with the production schedule
- Develop and maintain a detailed knowledge of the company's machinery to refine running data, optimise machine utilisation and identify opportunities to interchange jobs between machines
- Identify potential problem jobs and proactively address issues that may impact production schedules or delivery deadlines
- Liaise with the Transport Department to provide accurate information for daily load planning
