WORKING HOURS: 8am till 6pm
Our client is a specialist within the design and manufacture of corrugated products and packaging solutions. With many years' experience in product development and production they have earned a commanding reputation as leaders in transit packaging, RRP and POS for FMCG markets.
They are currently looking for a Production Manager to join their Production Department to manage their POS side. You will be ensuring the efficient, safe and cost-effective delivery of high quality products that meet customer expectations and business objectives. The role involves leading production teams, managing resources, driving continuous improvement, maintaining quality standards and ensuring production schedules are achieved.
Key Responsibilities:
- Overseeing a team of approximately 30 staff within the production department
- Manage all aspects of the POS production department
- Plan, schedule and oversee production to meet customer delivery deadlines
- Manage outsourced production activities and ensure work is completed to the required quality and timescales
- Coordinate with internal departments to ensure all elements of production, including print, finishing, wrapping and die-cutting, are completed efficiently
- Lead, motivate and develop all personnel within the digital print and packing departments
- Provide coaching, training and multi-skilling opportunities to improve workforce capability
- Set clear performance expectations and establish KPI targets for machine operators, particularly within the printing department
- Promote a positive, accountable and high-performing team culture
- Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety legislation and company policies
- Maintain a safe, clean and organised working environment appropriate to the technical nature and value of the machinery
- Promote safe working practices throughout the department
- Oversee the procurement and stock management of production materials, including substrates, inks, adhesives, packaging materials and associated consumables
- Ensure materials are available to support production schedules while controlling inventory levels
- Ensure products consistently meet customer specifications and quality standards
- Monitor production quality throughout the manufacturing process and implement corrective actions where necessary
- Work closely with Design to ensure artwork is production-ready and aligned with manufacturing requirements
- Oversee planned and preventative maintenance of production equipment
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, productivity and quality
- Identify and implement cost reduction projects without compromising quality or service
- Liaise with Sales regarding production progress, lead times and any issues affecting customer expectations
- Work collaboratively with Design, Operations, Maintenance and other departmental managers to improve overall site performance
- Build strong working relationships across the business to ensure effective communication and problem solving
- Monitor departmental performance against agreed KPIs and production targets
- Take responsibility for achieving departmental turnover and operational objectives
- Prepare and present monthly performance reports to the Directors, including production results, efficiencies, quality performance and improvement initiatives
