DAY SHIFTS: (39HRS) Monday to Thursday - 9am till 5pm / Friday 9am till 4pm
Our client is a well-established manufacturer within the print and packaging sector, known for manufacturing high quality tapes, protection films and adhesive solutions. The business has grown with now operating a well organised production facility, supporting diverse customer base across multiple industries.
Our client is looking to recruit a Print & Die-Cutting Operative to produce printed and die-cut products to the required specification, minimising waste and accurately following machine schedules, bills of materials, specification sheets and proficiently using the various manufacturing machines/tools. The role will be more weighted on the Die Cutting / Plotting side as opposed to printing
They are ideally looking for a candidate with experience of die cutting machines and flexographic and/or digital printing presses however they can offer full inhouse training if a suitable candidate
Responsibilities:
- Operate and monitor multi-colour flexo and digital presses, ensuring efficient and high-quality production. Reviewing digital files (often in formats like CAD, DWG, AI, or SVG) and adjusting settings to meet printing or cutting specifications.
- Set up the press for each job, which includes preparing materials, inks, and plates. Loading raw materials (e.g., adhesive tapes, self adhesive label stock, release liners), installing appropriate plates, blades, setting up the equipment, and running the machine.
- Maintain print and colour consistency by making necessary adjustments to meet specified operating levels and company standards. Monitoring the equipment during operation to detect malfunctions and inspecting finished products to ensure they conform to specifications and quality standards.
- Identify and resolve problems with the machinery or print quality during the production run.
- Perform routine maintenance on the printing press to ensure it is in good working order. Performing basic maintenance, cleaning the equipment, replacing worn components or supplies (ink, blades, plates), and troubleshooting technical issues.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures. Keep the work area, equipment, and machinery clean and tidy.
- Collaborating with designers, engineers, or the production team to clarify requirements, manage multiple print jobs, and meet deadlines. Collaborate with other team members and follow instructions from supervisors.
- Ensure when materials are converted, work orders are created and built accurately on NetSuite (CRM).
- Ensure that production lists are appropriately marked as completed to avoid unnecessary re-work by subsequent Operatives
- Manufacture customer orders accurately and to the correct specification, without waste or re-work.
- Record details of waste from the production process.
- Label goods in production with appropriate product type details.
- Carry out QC on finished products as required by Management.
Requirements:
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities required to perform the job fully competently.
- Experience operating flexographic and/or digital print presses and a good understanding of the printing process.
- Experience with die-cutting machines (flat bed, wide-format plotting/cutting machines and relevant software (e.g., CAD software, Adobe Illustrator, RIP software).
- The ability to meticulously check for quality issues in print and colour. Have a good attention to detail, critical for ensuring precise reproduction of plans, graphics, and cuts.
- Strong analytical skills to diagnose and solve problems that arise during operation. Noticing when potential problems or malfunctions occur during operation.
- The ability to operate, maintain, and perform minor repairs on industrial equipment.
- Physically capable of manually handling raw materials and finished product.
- Ability to work to established procedures quickly and accurately.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team. Ability to communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
