PACKAGING DESIGNER - CORRUGATED PACKAGING

SALARY £32-35K (Depending on Experience)
Our client is a leading corrugated packaging manufacturer, supplying to a variety of markets throughout the UK, they have made a vast investment into the business over the past few years and have experienced significant growth and increase in workload.
They are currently looking for a Packaging Designer to join their design department. This is an excellent opportunity for a creative and technically minded individual with experience in corrugated packaging design to play a key role in developing innovative, cost-effective packaging solutions that meet customer requirements while ensuring efficient manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design corrugated packaging solutions to meet customer specifications and performance requirements
- Produce CAD drawings, layouts and manufacturing specifications using packaging design software
- Create physical samples and prototypes for customer approval
- Assess customer packaging requirements and recommend suitable box styles, board grades and flute profiles
- Select the appropriate corrugated board types and thicknesses based on product protection, transport and cost considerations
- Ensure all designs are practical, manufacturable and commercially viable
- Liaise closely with Sales, Production and Customers throughout the design process
- Support new product development and continuous improvement initiatives
- Maintain accurate design records and technical documentation
- Ensure all work complies with quality standards and customer specifications
Responsibilities:
- Previous experience in corrugated packaging design is essential
- Strong understanding of corrugated board grades, flute profiles and board thicknesses
- Experience using packaging CAD software such as ArtiosCAD, Kasemake or similar
- Knowledge of packaging manufacturing processes and converting techniques
- Ability to interpret customer briefs and develop practical packaging solutions
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organisational and time management abilities
- Good communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments
