MULTI-POINT GLUING OPERATOR - ROTATING SHIFT PATTERN

WEST MIDLANDS

SALARY £15.10 PER HOUR - (Shift Premium below applied after completion of a 12 week training period and a permanent contract is offered)

ROTATING 3 SHIFT PATTERN: 5:50am till 2pm / 1:50pm till 10pm / 9:50pm till 6am

SHIFT PREMIUM: 20% applied when working 5:50am till 2pm OR 1:50pm till 10pm
30% applied when working 9:50pm till 6am

Our client is a well-established and highly respected manufacturer within the corrugated and sustainable packaging sector, supplying bespoke packaging solutions to customers across a wide range of industries throughout the UK.
They are currently looking experienced Multi-Point Gluing Machine Operator to join their production department to operate new machines being installed in the factory.

This role will be offered on a temp-to-perm basis. The successful candidate will have an initial 12 week training period in which once successfully completed then offered a permanent role.

The client is ideally looking for Bobst Masterfold machinery experience, however it is not essential, although experience operating similar machinery would be beneficial. A full training programme will be provided for the successful candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up the BOBST Masterfold for a variety of carton styles including straight-line, crash-lock, 4-point and 6-point
• Configure feeder, pre-breakers, folding sections, glue systems and delivery
• Adjust belts, carriers, hooks and folding rails for accurate carton forming
• Run the machine at optimal speeds while maintaining quality standards
• Set and time back-fold hooks and servo systems for 4/6 corner cartons
• Ensure correct folding sequences and glue application points
• Troubleshoot issues such as misfolds, fish-tailing or poor squaring
• Perform in-process checks for glue lines, adhesion, fold accuracy, carton squareness and product consistency against specifications
• Record quality checks per company procedures
• Carry out efficient job changeovers to minimise downtime
• Pre-set tooling and prepare materials ahead of runs
• Perform daily cleaning and basic maintenance
• Identify wear on belts, nozzles and folding components
• Work with engineers on breakdowns and preventative maintenance
• Operate in line with site safety policies and machine guarding requirements
• Use PPE and follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures when required
• Maintain high housekeeping standards (5S)

Requirements:

• Proven experience operating a BOBST Masterfold or similar high-speed folder-gluer
• Strong understanding of multi-point carton setups
• Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability
• Attention to detail with a focus on quality
• Experience with BOBST features
• Knowledge of glue systems (cold glue, hot melt if applicable)
• Familiarity with packaging materials (carton board, flute types)
