SALARY GUIDE £35K (Dependant on Experience) + 25 Days Holidays plus Bank Holidays + Onsite Parking
DOUBLE DAY SHIFT: MONDAY TO FRIDAY - 6AM TILL 1.30PM & 1.30PM TILL 9PM
Our client has been established for over 40 years and specialise in producing a bespoke range of high-quality cartons, boards and trays for a range of market sectors including the food industry.
They are currently looking for an experienced Gluing Operator to join their production team. You will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of carton gluing and finishing machinery, ensuring all products are manufactured to the highest quality standards while meeting production targets, customer specifications and BRCGS compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up, operate and monitor carton gluing machines to achieve required production speeds and maintain quality standards
- Set up, operate, and monitor window patching and nesting/tray forming machinery
- Produce Straight Line, Crash Lock, 4 Corner, and 6 Corner carton styles to meet customer specifications
- Ensure all products meet approved quality standards, including adhesion, folding accuracy, dimensions, print registration and overall finish
- Carry out in-process quality inspections and complete all relevant quality documentation accurately
- Maintain compliance with BRCGS Packaging Materials standards, Good Manufacturing Practices, hygiene controls and company quality procedures
- Ensure full traceability through accurate completion of production records, downtime reporting, waste records and quality checks
- Monitor machine performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste and minimise downtime
- Diagnose and resolve minor machine faults, escalating technical issues where required
- Assist with machine changeovers, tooling setup and adjustments for varying carton sizes and specifications
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and housekeeping across work areas and machinery in line with BRCGS and health & safety requirements
- Follow all company Health & Safety policies, safe systems of work & operating procedures
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, supervisors and other departments to meet production schedules and customer deadlines
- Support continuous improvement initiatives & contribute positively to team performance
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a carton gluing or similar packaging production role
- Proven experience operating Straight Line, Crash Lock, 4 Corner and 6 Corner carton gluing systems
- Experience with Bobst machinery is preferred
- Experience operating Window Patchers and Nester/Tray Formers is advantageous; training can be provided for the right candidate
- Good mechanical aptitude with strong problem-solving skills
- High level of attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality work
- Sound understanding of BRCGS Packaging Materials standards, GMP, hygiene, and quality control procedures
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet production deadlines
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills
- Positive attitude with the ability to work effectively as part of a team
