FACTORY & QUALITY MANAGER

Basic Factory Hours: Mon to Thurs (7am - 3.45pm) Fri (7am - 2.30pm)
Hours can be flexible on start and finish times if needed

Our client is a leading, independently owned, UK based manufacturer of high-quality printed paper packaging. The markets they serve range from "Food to Go" retailing, branded high street retailers Foodservice / Catering suppliers, wholesalers and food processors.

They are currently looking for a Factory & Quality Manager to assist the Managing Director in coordinating the work of all departments in the factories including Goods In, Production, Engineering and Goods Out. You will be managing the supervisors and improve the efficiency, quality and production of the factory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruit such staff as are necessary to improve the running and profitability of the factory
  • Select operators and setters for the department and to work with production planning to ensure that staffing levels are appropriate in each section
  • Coordinate and oversee the training and development of operators and setters, and discipline them when necessary
  • Maintain and develop the factories' production, mechanical maintenance, building premises and supply lines; to improve the efficiency of the sites and reduce waste
  • Assist the Production Planner in specifying and securing materials for the departments
  • Work with the Engineering Department to ensure all necessary supplies are in place on time and of the appropriate quality
  • Control costs within the parameters set/expected by the company
  • Ensure that all Health and Safety matters are adhered to at all times and that all company premises (warehouses and vehicles) are kept clean and tidy and free from obstructions at all times where and when applicable
  • Promote safe practices throughout the factory
  • Work with the Managing Director to assess the Quality training requirements of staff
  • Work with the Compliance Manager and the Managing Director to develop Right First Time attitudes in Production and Sales Teams
  • To work with Management to assess, continuously improve and update Quality procedures
  • Work with the Compliance Manager to maintain the BRC standards of the Company
  • Supervise the work of the Compliance Manager in coordinating the Quality Champions, Lean Champions and other Quality Managers within the Group Companies and internal auditors
  • Ensure that all quality systems are operational, and checks are conducted; to routinely check on integrity of receipts, artworks, setups, signoffs, production and despatches
  • Check the warehouses operate safely and efficiently, working to support the Warehouse Manager as possible
  • Work with the Warehouse Manager to ensure that Quality checks are being maintained on incoming and outgoing goods
