Our client is a leading transit packaging manufacturer supplying across a broad cross section of industry. They provide their clients with a range of corrugated cases, pallets, plywood cases, heavy duty packaging, cushioning, foam and composite packaging. They are currently seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to join their business.

The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities, building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, and driving the growth of the business with existing and new opportunities.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities through market research, prospecting and use of a host of internal sales leads
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing clients to ensure continued business growth and customer satisfaction
  • Generate leads and build a strong pipeline of potential clients through targeted marketing and sales efforts
  • Work collaboratively with other teams in the company to ensure successful delivery of products and services to clients
  • To drive sales and be the main point of contact for commercial customers building long- term relationships and repeat business
  • Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve revenue targets
  • Keep abreast of the trends and movements within the packaging markets and elaborate to existing customers the impact these market changes
  • Monitor competitor activity and collect customer feedback in order to identify new business opportunities to stay ahead of the competition
  • Prepare and present on sales and business development activities to senior management as required
  • Meet customers (face to face), prepare quotes and follow-up with excellent customer service and sales skills

Skills / Experience:

  • Proven track record in sales and business development, with at least 3 years of relevant experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients and team members
  • Ability to bring back a brief from the prospect and work with the designers to offer a cost-effective solution
  • Ability to follow-up leads and convert into sales
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of the packaging materials suitable for the safe transit pack design
  • Experience in the packaging industry is preferred
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Target driven with the ability to show resilience and determination
  • Adaptable, honest, reliable and conscientious
  • Willingness to travel within the UK as needed
